Police helicopter search for lorry on M2 between Gillingham and Sittingbourne after people seen on roof of lorry

The police helicopter was scrambled to join in a search for a lorry after people were reportedly seen on its roof as it travelled along a motorway.
People were reported to have been seen on top of the HGV on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 between junction five for Sittingbourne and junction four for Chatham just after 9.30am today.
Officers travelled along the motorway and spoke to a lorry driver who was stationary at junction two for Strood.
A police spokesman said: "The vehicle was searched and there was no trace of anybody in the rear or on the roof.
"The police helicopter assisted in the search for the lorry."
