A woman who suffered a serious heart attack while driving home is trying to trace the kind-hearted stranger who she believes saved her life.
Suzie Burton was at a supermarket in Strood where she fell violently ill and was forced to abandon her shopping.
She lay down in her car in agony before making the decision to drive the two mile journey back to her flat in Borstal.
The 56-year-old full-time care worker got as far as the Esplanade in Rochester when she was forced to pull over.
It was then that the elderly, well-dressed man emerged from the Castle Club and tapped on her window.
She said: “This wonderful gentleman saw my plight and came to my car to see if he could help. I just wanted to get home because I thought it would make me feel better.”
Not only did he take her to her apartment in Sunderland Close but he drove partner Keith Finch back to get her black Corsa.
On his return Keith, 57, a self-employed web designer, saw the mum-of-one had deteriorated and called an ambulance to take her to A&E.
Miss Burton said: “My feet had turned blue and my arms felt solid.”
An angiogram revealed she had a 90% blocked artery and she underwent emergency surgery for a stent to be fitted to open up the valve.
Now recovering having spent six days in Medway Maritime Hospital, she said: “I have never had heart problems. I eat well, am not overweight and keep myself fit.
“I had been to the doctor three weeks beforehand with back ache and he had recommended an osteopath. I now realise I could have had three mild heart attacks, but I’m always running around and did not think much of it at the time.
“I want to thank my mysterious hero who saved my life.
“I was a bit out of it at the time, but I remember how calm he kept which had a calming effect on me. I just want to give him a big hug.”
Miss Burton fell ill at Tesco at 2.30pm on Monday, October 22.
The man was driving a red Smart car. If you know this good Samaritan, call our newsroom on 01634 227803.
