A heroin and cocaine dealer has been locked up for more than three years after police arrested him as he tried to cycle away from officers.

Jamie Taylor, 27, was arrested in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, in January after officers spotted him acting suspiciously.

The officers were on a routine patrol when they were alerted to Taylor, who was believed to be dealing drugs.

Having carried out a search of the area officers found Taylor and when he spotted them he tried to cycle way, but fell off the bike before trying to run away on foot.

After his arrest, Taylor gave the officers a false name, however further inquiries revealed his true identity.

He was then searched and police found a crack pipe as well as a quantity of cash.

A chocolate egg was also found inside his jacket pocket and inside the egg were two yellow capsules.

One capsule was found to have contained 23 wraps of white powder and the other 22 wraps of brown powder, which was later confirmed to be cocaine and heroin.

Taylor of no fixed address was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, February 5 after admitting two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine.

Investigating officer, DC Michael Wills said: "Taylor thought he could get away with drug dealing in Medway and even tried to fool officers after being caught by giving false details.

"I’m pleased with this sentence as it shows that we are always one step ahead of the criminals and that we strive to make sure those who deal drugs and commit crimes are brought to justice."
