A woman remains in hospital with a serious back injury after she was the victim of a hit and run yesterday.
It happened in Napier Road, Gillingham, outside Lakeside Timber, at around 10.50am, and the street was cordoned off for most of the day.
The woman, who is in her 40s, was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance, where she is in a serious, but stable, condition.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses that may have seen the car involved following the incident.
Police spokesman James Walker said: "The car involved is reported to be a black Vauxhall Corsa that left the scene prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
"At present no arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing."
Witness Nicole Fox said: "From what I understand it was a hit and run outside the timber place on Napier Road.
"Police were not allowing people through as they were looking for evidence.
"A lady was brought into the park on a stretcher and loaded in to the helicopter and it took off shortly after."
Following the incident the road was blocked in both directions at Junction Road, not far from the church.
