Holcombe beat Southgate in the Men's Conference East and Herne Bay in the Kent Cup

Holcombe Hockey Club remain in touch of the leaders in the Men’s Conference East after a narrow win over third placed Southgate on Saturday.
David Mathews scored the winner for Holcombe as they had to twice come from behind to win the game.
It was a good weekend for Holcombe, who sit fourth, as they followed that 3-2 victory up with a big win over Herne Bay in the Faithdean Kent Cup the following day.
Holcs were a goal down early on against Southgate but Yasser Khan’s eighth minute effort levelled the scores.
Southgate ended the half 2-1 ahead following a 20th minute goal from Andrew Westbrook.
Holcombe surged back into the game in the second half with Andrew West and David Mathews scoring the goals to turn the game on its head.
On Sunday Holcombe won 9-2 at Herne Bay in the first round of the Kent Cup. They were leading 6-0 at half-time and will now face a trip to either Marden or Gore Court.
