Holcombe men missed out on a place in the EHL Indoor League national finals after a disappointing round of games on Sunday.
Saturday’s action ended with Holcombe sitting fourth and in the final position to claim a place in the Nottingham finals this weekend.
Holcombe had thrashed Doncaster 6-2, drawn 4-4 with Stourport and hammered Maidstone 6-0.
That form didn’t continue the following day. The day started with an 8-4 defeat to table-topping Canterbury and preceded a 6-6 draw with Team Bath Buccaneers.
Victory in the final game against the Barford Tigers would have seen them qualify, but they lost 4-3, eventually finishing second from bottom in the table.
