The Barge, Layfield Road, Gillingham could be converted to homes after plans submitted to Medway Council

Plans have been submitted to convert a closed-down pub into new homes.
The Barge, in Layfield Road, Gillingham, which was a popular live music venue, shut in March as a result of financial pressure on the landlords.
It was sold at auction for £215,000 in May and plans are now with Medway Council to turn it into three houses, two with two bedrooms and one with one bedroom.
Another former pub will be sold at auction later this month. The United Services, in Arden Street, Gillingham, already has planning permission to be redeveloped into nine flats.
It has a freehold guide price of £250,000 to £260,000 for the auction at the Clive Emson Conference Centre in Detling, on Tuesday, July 26.
