A man who died after a horror crash with a lorry has been named as a "much-loved" father.

Dad-of-three Andy Millward, who is in his 40s, died after a Renault lorry hit his black Vauxhall in Station Road, Strood, at around 1.30pm yesterday.

Passers-by rushed to the scene after the lorry overturned, when trying to turn from Frindsbury Road, and attempted to clear rubble which had tipped out.

A huge emergency presence including police, paramedics and the fire service meant the road was shut in both directions for hours.

Following the tragedy, Andy's family and friends have paid tribute to him.

His mum Freda Law told KentOnline: "My son was much loved. He also leaves his three daughters and much-loved family behind."

Sister Selina Tattum said: "This is my brother who has been taken away from my family and myself. RIP Andrew, love you, sleep tight. Until we meet again."

Other friends expressed their sadness at the death of Andy.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
