11:30, 16 March 2016

Police are hunting a driver who drove off after smashing into another car in the early hours of Sunday.

Joe Clements’ Toyota Celica 190 was parked in Eastcourt Lane, Twydall, when another vehicle - thought to be a black Land Rover - crashed into it.

The 26-year-old said: “It’s hard to put into words how I feel to be honest.

"I know it’s only a car but it was very important to me and was something I worked hard to pay for, and it has now been written off by a person who wasn’t willing to admit their mistake.”

Mr Clements relies on his car to get to work at the Valence School, Westerham, a residential school for disabled children.

He added: “The insurance company have said I can only have a courtesy car if they deem my car repairable and it will take about a week to decide that.

“Luckily my friend has recently bought a new car and hasn’t sold her old one yet so I’m borrowing that, without her I would have been off work all week with no car.”

Photos of his wrecked car have been shared 180 times on Facebook and he said several people have come forward to report damaged vehicles but so far the culprit has not been found.

A police spokesman said they were called at 1am on Sunday, March 13.

She said: “Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver of the vehicle, which has been described as a black 4x4.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 101 and quote incident reference 13-0067.
