Police are searching for a man after three people were assaulted on a train.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called to Chatham Station last night following reports of a disturbance, with officers describing the assault as “nasty”.
It is believed a man, who made off before the police arrived, had earlier had a verbal altercation with the victims in a pub. Police have not stated where this incident took place.
They say the victims then left the pub and boarded a train, as did the suspect.
Posting on X, a BTP spokesperson said: “Having got to Chatham, the suspect has made a beeline for the victims, pushing one female, punching one male twice in the face and another male once, resulting in him falling and sustaining a broken ankle in two places.”
Paramedics also attended the scene to tend to the victims along with officers from Kent Police at Medway.
Officers say that despite extensive inquiries, they were unable to locate the suspect on the night.
A BTP spokesperson added: “Inquires are ongoing to identify and locate him and BTP is providing ongoing support to the victims of this nasty assault.”
The police and ambulance service have also been contacted for comment.
