A popular Indian restaurant is to have its licence reviewed after illegal workers and £6,000 cash were found in a raid.
Shozna in Maidstone Road, Rochester, was raided by immigration officers on July 21 who found two people working there illegally.
The men, both from Bangladesh and aged 32 and 41, were arrested and remain in immigration detention while their cases are dealt with.
On September 22, the business was served a fine of £15,000.
The two members of staff were arrested for overstaying their visa and £6,000 was also seized from the property.
Police have now submitted a review of the premises licence to Medway Council’s licensing committee.
This will be considered at a meeting on Tuesday next week.
The restaurant has a licence to sell alcohol between noon and midnight Sunday to Thursday and until 1am Friday and Saturdays.
A report is now available on the council’s website, with large parts exempt from the public.
It includes a response to the consultation from a local resident saying: “As a resident of Medway and Neighbourhood Watch coordinator for my area, I fully support the police in this licence review.
“The police have hit the nail on the head here."
