Two prisoners got on the top of the chapel at Rochester Prison hurling tiles from its roof earlier today.
The two men got onto the chapel roof at HMP Rochester, in Fort Road, earlier today and were said to be throwing tiles from the roof in protest for other inmates stuck in baking-hot cells.
Kent Police said they were aware of the incident but the matter was being dealt with by the prison service.
It is understood the prisoners were brought down at about 2.30pm.
A Prison Service spokesperson said:“Two prisoners gained access to a building roof on the site at HMP Rochester for a short period of time on Sunday 18 June.
"This incident was quickly resolved and there was no impact on the prison regime.”
In June 2011 Rochester became a dual purpose site catering for young offenders and adult category C offenders.
