An investigation has begun into the cause of a fire which broke out in the porch of a house in Henry Street, Chatham.
Firefighters were called out to the property at about 12.20am today, Thursday, after the homeowner smelt smoke and dialed 999.
A crew from Strood station was called to the house but by the time they arrived the occupant had managed to put out the fire.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The fire had been put out when we arrived, so we just made sure there were no hot spots which could reignite.
“We damped the area down and used our thermal imaging cameras to make sure there were no areas we’d missed.
“Our fire investigators are going to go back to the property later to investigate the cause of the fire.”
