Invicta Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish is delighted that Andy Moffat has agreed to stay on and fight for the No.1 netminding jersey next season.
The arrival of Dave Wride in Gillingham from the Chelmsford Chieftains last month had prompted speculation that Moffat, the Supporters’ Player-of-the-Year last season, could be moving on after two years with the Dynamos.
But Parrish (pictured) insisted: "Moffs was never a doubt for next season as far as I was concerned. There were a few rumours flying around that he was going to Romford, so I have sorted out a deal with Andy to end the speculation.
"After the great year he had last year, we owed Andy another season but he knows he will fighting for the No.1 shirt with Wridey next season.
"I’ve now got the option of two top-class goalies, which is something I haven’t had for the past couple of seasons."
Parrish is equally pleased that Nicky Lewis has signed up for another year at the Silver Blades Ice Rink. The 24-year-old had a difficult start to last season’s campaign after picking up a shoulder injury in October but he ended the season with 12 goals and 34 assists.
Parrish said: "Nicky has become a mainstay of our attack since he joined us in 2009 and is one of those players you know exactly what you are going to get from him.
"He battles tirelessly and you’d be hard pushed to find a coach at any level that doesn’t want players of his commitent.
"Although he doesn’t say a lot, he’s the sort of guy who when he does say something, people take notice. He’s also a great character in the dressing room."
Lewis and Moffat take Parrish’s number of signings for next season to seven with Jack Tarczycki, Tim Smith Peter Vaisanen, Brad Watchorn and Wride already on Dynamos’ roster.
