Invicta Dynamos go down Romford Raiders in ENIHL South play-off semi-finals

Invicta Dynamos made a gallant attempt to upset the odds before losing 13-7 on aggregate to the Romford Raiders in their ENIHL South play-off semi-final over the weekend.
After losing Saturday's first leg in Gillingham 6-4 to this season's league winners, Dynamos were right back in contention after they finished Sunday's second period in Essex 3-2 in front thanks to strikes from Justin Noble, Callum Best and Andy Smith (pictured) with his 400th goal for the club.
But the Raiders, who had won five of their six meetings with Dynamos this season prior to the play-offs, then turned on the power in the final period, scoring five goals without reply to run our 7-3 second-leg winners and book their place in the final.
The Dynamos had started strongly in the first leg and took the through Ryan Ellis, but the Raiders drew level late in the first period through Juraj Huska. Romford then went 3-1 up before Tim Smith got on the scoresheet, and it was Dynamos who established the early momentum in the final period, scoring twice through Ryan Ellis and a rare Adam Copland goal.
However, the lead lasted less than a minute after Huska fired home a rebound to make it 4-4, and the Raiders again finished the stronger to set up their two-goal cushion for the second leg.
