Invicta Dynamos put Southern Cup loss to Romford Raiders behind them with league win over same opponents a day later

Invicta Dynamos put a dent in Romford Raiders’ title aspirations on Sunday as they avenged their cup defeat from the day before.
The Mos had won all of their previous Southern Cup games but came unstuck on Saturday in Essex. The 9-3 defeat leaves their qualification hopes in doubt and they are now relying on Romford to slip up against Peterborough.
Had the Mos avoided defeat on Saturday they would have made the Southern Cup final. But the Dynamos were two down at the end of the first period and Justin Noble’s solitary strike was scant consolation in the second as they trailed 5-1.
Andy Smith, pictured, scored twice in the last, but the Mos went down 9-3.
On Sunday they gained revenge on home ice as the Dynamos eased to a 7-2 win thanks to a strong finish.
Goals in the second period from Peter Vaisanen (2) and Andy Smith saw the Mos lead 3-2.
But further strikes in the final session from Andy Smith, Tyrone Miller, Callum Fowler and Nicky Lewis left the title chasers well beaten.
