Drivers are being told traffic has returned to normal on the northbound A229 at Blue Bell Hill.
Police said reports came in at 9.45am of a crash on the stretch of road between a lorry and two cars.
Although there were no reported injuries, a spokesman said KCC Highways were contacted to clear up a fuel spillage.
There was queuing traffic on the road before the M2 around Buckmore Park (the Lord Lees Roundabout).
