Developers of a former Toys R Us have given a provisional opening date for four new businesses.
Work to transform the disused unit in Chatham into a Home Bargains and a UFC Gym began last week.
Land owners Royal London revealed the site, which will also include an Aldi and a KFC drive-thru, will be opened to the public by spring 2020.
Plans for the disused site in Maidstone Road were approved last month.
Toys R Us went into administration last year and the unit has been empty since
Insurers and investment company Royal London also revealed that the development should facilitate 190 new jobs.
Royal London’s senior asset manager, Yasin Sadiq, said: "We are very pleased to be commencing construction work at Horsted Retail Park and look forward to delivering four exciting new businesses to the community in 2020.
"Our plans secure the regeneration of a gateway site in Chatham, which is currently vacant, and will create a number of benefits for the local community, including over 190 new jobs and much-needed highway improvements."
