This is the scene after a car driven by an elderly man crashed through the window of a woman's home in Gillingham today.
The driver of the white Peugeot 206 had been trying to reverse in Canterbury Street, opposite the junction of Cowper Road, at about 11.25am.
The vehicle smashed through the front double window panes and landed lodged on the windowsill of the bedsit.
The couple in the car were not injured and the woman, who escaped unharmed, has since been rehoused.
The road was closed until 1.20pm while the car was recovered.
Medway Council officers are expected to inspect the property later this afternoon to see if it is structurally sound.
A resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's amazing nobody was seriously injured. The room was covered in shards of glass."
