Delays have cleared after an earlier car fire on Blue Bell Hill.
The car caught alight on the London-bound carriageway of the A229 just before the morning rush hour.
As a result, there was heavy traffic between junction 6 of the M20 in Maidstone and the roundabout at junction 3 of the M2 for Chatham.
The road was fully open and delays had cleared by 9.20am.
A police spokesperson said officers were called to the scene just after 7am.
“Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) and assisted with traffic management,” they said.
“No serious injuries were reported.”
A KFRS spokesperson added the blaze was put out by 7.37am.
“Two fire engines attended the Chatham-bound carriageway and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames,” they said.
