A crash between a lorry and a fuel tanker was causing queuing traffic for three miles on the M2 eastbound carriageway earlier.
The accident took place between Junction 4 for Gillingham, and Junction 5 for the A249 in Sittingbourne.
One lane, which was closed due to debris and spillage of radiator coolant, has now re-opened and the accident has been cleared.
Congestion to the A249 was also queuing on the northbound approach.
