Lorry crash closes M2 motorway between Gillingham and Chatham

A lorry driver had a miraculous escape after a motorway crash left his cab crushed.
The trucker suffered only cuts and bruises when his HGV smashed into the back of another lorry on the M2 this afternoon.
A trail of mangled wreckage was left behind, but astonishingly, no one was seriously hurt.
Kent Police's roads unit tweeted the above image, with the message: "Thank you for everyone's patience, amazingly driver only had a couple of small cuts."
The London-bound carriageway was closed between junction 4 for Gillingham and 3 for Chatham until 2.40am, when one lane reopened.
The road was completely reopened at around 5pm.
One witness said: "Just passed the incident involving the two lorries, the first, a white one had been crashed into from the rear by a red one, the cab of which was effectively caved in from the front and it appeared had had the door removed to get the driver out."
A police spokesman said earlier: “Kent Police was called at 1.41pm following a collision involving two lorries on the M2 London-bound near junction 4.
“Officers are currently assisting ambulance staff at the scene and the air ambulance is also in attendance.
“The motorway is currently closed between junctions 4 and 3 so motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes if possible.”
