A Spaniard was arrested after a group of people were seen getting out of the back of a lorry on the M2.
Police were called at 4.37pm on Saturday to the vehicle as it was parked on the hard shoulder of the London-bound carriageway between junctions 3 for Chatham and junction 2 for Strood.
Officers attended and closed the carriageway to ensure their safety.
Following a search of the area, six people were located and handed into the care of the Home Office.
A 44-year-old man, believed to be the driver, was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and has since been released pending further inquiries.
