A slip road shut for almost 24 hours following a fuel spill is now fully reopen again.
The incident was reported at about 2.30pm on Tuesday and closed the exit slip on the coastbound carriageway at J4 for Gillingham.
Traffic yesterday afternoon was extremely heavy in the area with queues building back at J3 for Blue Bell Hill and Chatham where drivers tried to exit the motorway there.
Police arrived on the scene alongside firefighters and closed off the road while highways teams started work to clear the spillage from a lorry.
The force was called at around 12.05pm and since closed the road between the M2 and Sharsted Way.
Pictures from the Traffic England highways cameras this morning showed one lane of the two-lane slip road was still coned off while clearance work continues.
National Highways had initially predicted it would take until 5pm to clear yesterday afternoon.
But by lunchtime today the road had reopened.
