M2 crash: road reopens between Gillingham and Chatham

All lanes have now reopened after a single-car crash on the M2 Londonbound between J4 for Gillingham and J3 for Chatham and Rochester.

The accident was on the hard shoulder at just after 8am, after a green Vauxhall Astra came off the carriageway, rolled over and hit the grass verge.

The male driver - in his 20s - was taken from the car by ambulance staff, and the air ambulance was called.

He was treated at the scene for head injuries by air ambulance paramedics and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by land ambulance. The road reopened just after 9am.
