Merrals Shaw Bridge on M2 to be shut again this weekend

A bridge is being partly closed for essential maintenance on several different days over the next three weeks.

The Merrals Shaw Bridge along the M2 will be shut overnight and on some weekends while National Highways carries out improvements, including resurfacing and waterproofing the route.

Last Monday, the London-bound carriageway was closed at Junction 2 for the whole week.

While on Friday (June 1), more work on the same carriageway started from 9pm to 6am on Monday, June 3 – with a full closure in place.

Then again from Monday, June 3, the route will be closed between 9pm and 6am for the week until Friday, June 7.

There have been long hold-ups on the route recently owing to works.

Drivers are being warned to allow for extra time on their journeys and to follow the official diversion which will be signposted.

Traffic will be diverted off the M2 via the Junction 2 exit slip to rejoin via the entry slip a bit further up the road.
