46-year-old man from Chatham arrested on suspicion of robbery after the Co-op on Albert road was targetted

A man has been arrested after a convenience store was robbed in a night-time attack.

It it believed the offender demanded cash out of the till from the Co-op store in Albert Road, Chatham, on Sunday.

He was said to have entered the store at around 9.45pm and left with cigarettes from behind the till.

A 46-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed to July 8 pending further enquiries.

CCTV footage has been seized by police, but it is not the first time the store has been targeted.

In January last year staff were threatened in a knife raid by masked offenders who demanded money from the cashier.
