Man arrested at Rochester airport on suspicion of absconding from prison

A man has been arrested at Rochester airport on suspicion of trying to abscond from prison.
A helicopter was seen flying over Rochester on Thursday, July 31.
Police were alerted to the helicopter's unusual behaviour at 11.30am and arrested three men at the airport, in Maidstone Road.
Following enquiries Jonathan Nicholls, 36, Hargate Road, Liverpool, has been charged with being a temporarily released prisoner who remained unlawfully at large.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
A 55-year-old man from Liverpool and a 59-year-old man from Lancashire were also arrested on suspicion of assisting a prisoner.
They have been bailed, pending further enquiries, until August, 28.
