Punters had their evening pint interrupted last night when a man burst into the pub followed by six police officers.
A witness said the man ran into the Prince of Wales on Railway Street, Chatham, just after 9pm, shortly followed by two police officers.
She said: "A police car then pulled up and two officers jumped out, another two appeared on foot and tackled the man to the floor."
A police spokesman said: "It appears while officers were carrying out enquiries for a missing person, a PC was reported to have been assaulted.
"A 28-year-old man from Rochester was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody."
