A man has been charged with common assault after police were called to a school in Gillingham yesterday.
Officers were sent to the Robert Napier School, after an incident thought to have involved a pupil’s parent.
Police arrived at about 8.30am after school staff dialled 999 and arrested a 42-year-old Gillingham man on suspicion of public order offences.
While officers dealt with the incident, pupils were asked to remain in their classrooms at the school in Third Avenue, and a letter was sent out to parents explaining why their children were kept in class during the incident for safety reasons.
This morning a spokesman for police said officers had now charged a man.
Tony Tree, 42, of Freesia Close, Gillingham, has been charged with criminal damage, threatening behaviour and common assault.
Tree is due appear before magistrates in Medway today.
