Formerly of Cliffe Woods, Nigel Jackson makes admissions from prison after being charged with the murder of Brenda Davidson in Portugal

A man accused of murdering a woman from Medway and burying her under their patio has reportedly made some admissions in letter from his prison cell.

Brenda Davidson, 72, was found in January under a block of concrete in the garden of the Algarve home she shared with her partner Nigel Jackson.

Jackson, a former Gravesend cab driver, has been charged with aggravated murder and the concealment of the body, and is awaiting trial in custody.

According to Correio da Manhã, a major daily Portuguese newspaper, once the 59-year-old was approached by police, he revealed where he had buried Ms Davidson - but said she had committed suicide.

The couple moved to Portugal just over 10 years ago from their home in Thames View, Cliffe Woods.

The mum-of-four was discovered in a shallow grave and wrapped in plastic sheeting after her son called the police following failed attempts to get hold of her since November.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Davidson’s cause of death was severe injuries to the back of the head.

The Mirror reported this week that in a letter from his prison cell, Jackson admitted moving his lover of more than three years into the property just a month after Brenda’s death, with her body still undiscovered in the ground.

Jackson claims he "came home from a game of golf to find her lying in a pool of blood on the floor of their villa"

But he maintains he did not kill Ms Davidson, claiming he “came home from a game of golf to find her lying in a pool of blood on the floor of their villa”.

He wrote that she had been suffering from cancer and he took a lover because she could no longer fulfil his “needs”, but that the pair always planned to be buried in the garden with their beloved pets.

In February their villa was burgled and in the letter, Jackson said he now believes - rather than suicide - that she was assaulted by robbers who later returned to take their valuables.

After Jackson and Ms Davidson left Cliffe, Donna and Barry Jones bought their home.

Mrs Jones said: “Brenda was a really lovely and friendly lady. It’s just so sad. They moved out to Portugal for their retirement, and she was so looking forward to it.”
