A man has died after falling from an M2 bridge.
Police were alerted to a distressed man at around 3.30pm standing on the M2 Bridge in Strood.
The stretch of road was closed for four hours while emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the incident.
The man fell and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Traffic was diverted off the motorway at junction 3 (Rochester/Chatham) and at one stage delays were stretching back to J4 (Gillingham).
The closure affected all routes through Chatham, including Blue Bell Hill and Rochester Bridge, and Medway City Estate was at a standstill.
