Gillingham man charged over alleged Christmas Day robbery in Rochester

A man hunted down by a police dog has been charged with a Christmas Day robbery.
Officers were called after a woman was reportedly threatened and attacked in Rochester High Street at about 3.10am on December 25.
The victim, aged in her 20s, was walking down the street when she was allegedly approached by a man on a bicycle who threatened her with violence before grabbing her handbag.
The bag contained a bank card, make-up, perfume and other personal items.
Police launched an investigation and a man was tracked to a park in Gillingham on Christmas morning.
Simon Coates, of Goudhurst Road, Gillingham was arrested and has since been charged with one count of robbery after initially being released on bail following his arrest.
The 44-year-old has been remanded in custody accused of robbery after appearing at Medway Magistrates' Court this morning.
He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on February 3.
