Man in court on fraud charges after incidents in Chatham

A man has appeared in court accused of stealing bank and credit cards before spending more than £250 of tobacco and cigarettes.
Steven Convey is said to have used two cards at shops in Chatham town centre to buy various items.
Police said the majority of the £265 fraudulent transactions on the cards was spent on fags and booze on May 10.
The 29-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested on Monday and was charged with three counts of fraud by false representation and receiving stolen goods.
A short time before the transactions were made, the victim called police to say his wallet had been stolen by an unknown suspect while he was walking in New Road.
Convey appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at the same court on May 27.
