A disqualified driver who led officers on an 18-minute chase through the Towns and rammed a police car has been convicted.

The 38-year-old was driving an uninsured Ford Transit and failed to stop for police who pursued him.

Throughout the chase, Mills slammed on the breaks numerous times in an attempt to reverse ram the police car.

A stinger device was used to bring the vehicle to a stop on a grass verge in Capstone Road, Chatham.

The following day he was arrested and charged with a string of driving offences, including dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance.

He was also charged with failing to stop.

The Chatham man appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court last Tuesday where he pleaded guilty.

He will return to Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be confirmed.
