The Brook in Chatham closed after man stabbed and two others hurt

Part of Chatham town centre was closed after a one man was stabbed and two others attacked.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a disturbance in The Brook in the early hours of this morning
One man was treated for stab injuries and two other men suffered assault injuries.

It is thought violence erupted after a car pulled up in the street and two men got out.
Four people have been arrested on suspicion of assault and one person has been arrested for a public order offence. All suspects remain in custody.
The Brook, between King Street and Whiffen’s Avenue, was completely shut earlier this morning. Drivers were being diverted along Waterfront Way, past the bus station.
One witness described seeing forensic officers and “loads of blood”.
Officers remained at the scene until early evening. The road is now fully open.
The men’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
