Emergency services called to Maritime Way, Chatham after two vehicle smash

A motorist was taken to hospital after a two vehicle smash in Chatham Maritime on last night.

Firefighters from Medway and Rochester fire stations were called out at about 7.10pm after the crash at the roundabout at the junction with Dock Road and Maritime Way.

The crash, near to the entrance to the Universities at Medway campus, blocked part of the road for some time.

Police were also called to the scene to help manage traffic.

It was initially thought one man, believed to be in his 50s, was trapped in his vehicle, but when the emergency services arrived at the scene, the man was able to get himself out of his car and into an ambulance.

It is understood one of the cars involved was a Toyota and fire crews made the scene safe before leaving the scene.
