Mum Dana Bland said her 14-year-old son, Aaron, was targeted as he waited outside the restaurant in Strood Retail Park with his bicycle.

The Strood Academy pupil celebrated his birthday the day before and he had cash on him given as a present.

They also snatched his iPad and a bag, also given to him as presents.

Aaron and his mates were at the fast food chain outlet at about 4.30pm when they were approached.

Dana, who lives in Rochester, said: "There were about six of them - mostly black boys and one white boy.

"They all had their faces covered with hoods and scarves.

"It left my son shocked and distraught.

"It is terrible to think this can happen on your own doorstep. For all we know they could have had knives on them.

"I'd like to warn other mums that it's not safe out there."

Police spokesman Sally Smith said: "We are investigating following a report of a robbery in Commercial Road, Strood at 5.21pm on Sunday, 10 November 2019.

"It is reported that two teenage boys were approached by a group of males who intimidated them and stole their headphones and a bag.

Enquiries are ongoing and witnesses are asked to contact police, quoting 10-1197 on 01634 792209.
