Matt Haines will hope to round off his memorable season by helping GB & Ireland regain the Walker Cup at Merion GC in Pennsylvania this weekend.
The Chatham 19-year-old makes his cup debut in the 10-strong squad against the USA in the amateur golf's version of the Ryder Cup.
Haines (pictured) goes into the matchplay event with a string of successes already under his belt this year. The former Howard School pupil, a member of Rochester & Cobham GC, won both the Hampshire Salver and the Duncan Putter, and finished runner-up at the St Andrews Links Trophy and Welsh Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.
As a member of the England team, he maintained a 100 per cent record at the European Amateur Team Championship.
