Moped riding drug dealer set for sentencing over heroin and cocaine supply in Gillingham

A moped riding drug dealer has been remanded in custody after admitting supplying heroin and cocaine on the streets.

Jamie Bailey, 21, was spotted handing over a suspicious package to someone in Balmoral Road, Gillingham.

The moped driver was stopped and searched on Saturday at 2.25pm by police on patrol in the town.

Officers seized what they thought to be Class A drugs from a chest bag Bailey was carrying, along with some cash and a mobile phone.

After analysis the drugs were confirmed to be heroin and cocaine.

Bailey, of Fort Pitt Street, Chatham, was arrested and later charged with possession with the intent to supply heroin and cocaine.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday where he admitted both charges.

The court heard during his interview with police Bailey made no comment to officers and has no previous convictions for drug offences.

District Judge Stephen Leake sent the case to Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing and remanded Bailey in custody until then. A date for his hearing is yet to be set.
