Motorist walks away from smash after careering into lamppost on A289 in Strood

A motorist lost control of his Ford Focus and hit a lamppost during the early hours of this morning.
The man, who is not thought to have been seriously injured, lost control of his black car on the London-bound carriageway of the A289 Hasted Road, in Strood, close to the junction for the A2.
Firefighters from Strood, along with police and paramedics were called out to the scene at about 4.30am to make it safe and said the vehicle was on its side when they arrived and the driver had managed to get out.
It is understood he was well enough to walk to the ambulance when paramedics arrived on the scene.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: “There were wet conditions on the road and the vehicle had hit a lamppost and ended up on it side.”
