A section of the M2 was shut for more than three hours following a multi-car pile-up.
As many as five vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash, which happened shortly before 7pm in the coastbound carriageway, between the off and on slip-road for the Medway Services.
Traffic was at a standstill between Junction 4 for Gillingham and J5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone, but was later diverted via the services.
The carriageway reopened at around 10.40pm.
It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the collision.
