MP Tracey Crouch has said she will not be revealing which way she will vote in the EU referendum.

With just hours to go until the polls open, the Chatham and Aylesford MP has announced she will not be telling anyone which box she intends to put her cross in.

And she has told the Messenger she will also not be making her decision known after Thursday's poll.

Miss Crouch is one of nine MPs who have not declared how they are voting and the only Kent MP not to do so.

She has already spoken about how she is appalled by the in/out campaign and said last week she had not decided which side she was backing.

Her Facebook post about being left “discombobulated” was seen by 9,000 people and received dozens of supportive comments.

Yesterday evening, she followed this with another Facebook post .

It said: “I have indeed now made a decision on how to vote on Thursday.

"Declaring where I intend to put my cross on Thursday will annoy people either way" - Tracey Crouch MP

"I have listened to the debate, heard what my constituents, friends and family think, been courted by both camps at the highest level, read pages and pages of information that attempts to cut through the campaign rhetoric.

"However, I have also decided not to tell anyone how I intend to vote.

“I defied the government whip to give us this vote in the first place and allow everyone, not just the elected politicians, to make a decision on the UK’s future relationship with the EU.

“My vote is equal to my neighbours and for once I shall cast a vote in which I represent no-one but myself.

"Declaring where I intend to put my cross on Thursday will annoy people either way, whether they are my constituents, businesses within my constituency or sectors of my ministerial portfolio.”

Miss Crouch had already said her decision would be influenced by the kind of Britain she wants for her son Freddie, who was born in February.

She added this week: “My vote will be cast with a view to what type of country and community I want Freddie to grow up in and his middle aged parents grow old in.

"And that is all I need to say about Thursday, other than please do go out and vote. The future of your country depends on it.”
