Murder detectives are urgently appealing for dashcam footage after a body was found in a flooded flat on Thursday.
Emergency services made the grim discovery after being called to a fire in Firethorn Close, The Vineries estate, Gillingham.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at 20 past midnight on Friday, and remains in custody.
He is believed to be known to the victim - a disabled man in his 60s.
Detectives would now like to hear urgently from motorists whose vehicles are fitted with a dashcam and may have been parked in the following locations between 7am and 11am on Thursday;
- The Vineries
- Castlemaine Avenue between The Vineries and Grange Road
- Grange Road between Ingram Road and Castlemaine Avenue
- Parr Avenue
- Burnt Oak Terrace
A source said on Thursday: "There were about ten police cars there, fire and forensics. The house is cordoned off and a police officer is on guard outside."
He added: "His brother found him this morning having done some shopping for him.
"He was lying in bed in a ground floor flat. There were people living above.
"The flat was flooded but there was evidence of a fire."
Anyone with footage, no matter how irrelevant it may seem, is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Murray Tester on 01634 884001 or by emailing 10785@kent.pnn.police.uk
