The trial of a young man accused of murdering a father-of-five from Medway will start today (Tuesday) at Maidstone Crown Court.
Robert Alderman, 21, is accused of killing Paul Scott, from Gillingham, who died four days after an alleged brawl on February 10.
The incident happened in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, just minutes from Mr Scott’s home in nearby Franklin Road.
Mr Scott, 43, suffered a broken leg but initially did not go to hospital for treatment.
When he eventually went to casualty, after suffering some discomfort, his leg was put into a cast.
He returned to hospital in pain on February 14, but died just before 10am.
A postmortem examination revealed Mr Scott died of pulmonary thromboembolism, deep vein thrombosis and a fracture of the right fibula.
Alderman, of Canadian Avenue, Gillingham, was remanded in custody after being charged with Mr Scott’s murder.
