A little boy was found wandering the street on his own, reportedly wearing no clothes.
Police were called to City Way, Rochester, at about 6am after the youngster was found by a resident.
It is thought the boy, who is around five years old, was not wearing any clothes, with some reports saying he was wearing only his underwear and others saying he had nothing on at all.
A woman living in the area said the police were knocking on doors in an attempt to find the boy's parents.
She posted on Facebook: "We need your help. Police have just knocked at my door. They have found a 5 year old boy wandering the streets in just underwear and no top.
"He is in the police car but we can't find his parents. Delce Road, City Way area.
"Please can you ask your friends with children to check kids' room to see if none of their kids aren't missing."
Another woman posted: "It was about 6.10am and he had nothing at all on, not even underwear. Me, my partner and some bloke found him and stayed with him till the police came."
The boy was later reunited with his mum.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report on Friday, September 30, to concerns about an unaccompanied young boy in City Way, Rochester.
"He has since been reunited with his mother."
No further details about the boy have been released.
No action is being taken against the child's mother and police said no crime had been committed.
