Deichmann shoe store opening in Pentagon Shopping Centre, Chatham
13:00, 17 March 2016
An international shoe store is set to move into the Pentagon Shopping Centre next month.
Deichmann has confirmed it will be opening in the former WHSmith premises on April 27, creating 12 jobs.
The retailer is still recruiting for staff members, in particular sales assistants and supervisors.
WHSmith shut the doors of its Pentagon store on April 15, 2015, because the branch was not making enough profit and its lease for the premises was coming to an end.
It closed in the same month as Tesco in The Brook, which has been taken over by Go Outdoors.
Deichmann has stores in 22 European countries and the USA. The first UK branch opened in 2001 and there are now more than 80 stores across the country.
The retailer is different from a traditional shoe shop in that it displays the shoes in pairs and in their boxes, so you don’t have to ask an assistant for the other shoe.
The new 406m sq Chatham store will be offering selected styles at 50% discount in the opening week.
