Gillingham teen and Luke Emerson, 23, of Gillingham Road, in court accused of kidnap and assault

A teenage girl and a man have been remanded in custody after being accused of kidnapping and assaulting another man at a house in Gillingham.

Luke Emerson, 23, and a 17-year-old girl who cannot be named for legal reasons, were both charged with false imprisonment, assault and criminal damage.

The charges relate to an incident in which a 24-year-old man was allegedly assaulted over a period of roughly 24 hours.

The pair appeared before magistrates in Medway earlier today via virtual technology.

Emerson, of Gillingham Road, Gillingham, did not enter any pleas in relation to the charges and the teenage girl, who is also from Gillingham, denied the allegations against her.

The pair are accused of falsely imprisoning the man between Sunday, February 28 and Monday, February 29.

The alleged victim is said to have been admitted to hospital after the incident, but has since been released.

The pair were remanded in custody and the case was sent to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with.

They will next appear there on Wednesday, March 30.
