Chatham boss Paul Foley is warning that Saturday’s FA Cup opponents, Combined Counties League leaders Chertsey Town, will be no pushover, ahead of the preliminary round tie at Alwyns Lane.
Prize money of £1,500, and a possible first qualifying round tie against Sittingbourne, are added incentives and Foley watched the Surrey side beat Mole Valley 5-0 in the previous round.
He said: "It would be a great game for us to win but they will probably start favourites after some big wins so far this season."
Chats won 2-0 at Merstham on Tuesday night with goals by Joe Fuller and Callum O’Shea.
Foley added: "I am delighted to have got two wins from two but we were lucky to escape with another clean sheet because they had good chances in an end-to end game."
David Hunt (thigh) and player coach Kevin Watson (hamstring) are doubtful for the tie but striker Uche Ibemere could start his first game after recovering from ankle ligament damage. Striker Aaron Firth has joined former club Herne Bay on dual forms to help regain match fitness.
