A heartbroken family have today paid tribute to two "fantastic parents" who died after a car crash.
Lindsay Slater and Tom Gregory were on a family outing with their little girls Mae-Louise, seven, and four-year-old Hollie when their car smashed into a road sign on the A228 Peninsula Way at Hoo, near Rochester.
Passers-by rushed to help and managed to get the girls out of the car - but full-time mother Lindsay, 30, died at the scene on Saturday afternoon.
"they were a really close couple and it will leave a huge hole in our lives..." –family statement
Father Tom, 29, who worked as a painter and decorator, was driving the car.
He was airlifted to hospital, but died the following day.
The family lived in Cliffe Road, Strood. Mae-Louise and Hollie are now being cared for by relatives.
Their close-knit family paid a heartfelt tribute to the couple today.
They said: "Tom and Lindsay will always be remembered by their family and friends as fantastic parents to two beautiful girls.
"They were a really close couple and it will leave a huge hole in our lives. We would like to thank all those who have been in contact offering messages of condolence. It is greatly appreciated during this difficult time."
The cause of how the couple's silver Peugeot car came to leave the Strood-bound carriageway, catapulting over a crash barrier before hitting the sign, is being investigated by officers from the Kent Police serious collision unit.
